  Changing Canadian Mood, Very Troubling

“Canada will not forget the less fortunate countries and the people who really suffer – people that we left behind us, either from Africa, from Asia or from Europe. Remember they exist.” – Thomas Saras

 By William Doyle-Marshall

Canada Day marked the 145th anniversary of the formation of the Dominion. But to many it was a chance to amplify their concerns about the changing attitudes and ponder about what kind of future is in store for Canadians. At the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada’s celebration, they were urged to continue to ensure the message they spread to readers, viewers and listeners are always accurate,  current and relevant....

New Refugee Bill Will not Give Refugees a Fair Chance to Tell Their Stories

Peter Showler,  Director, the Refugee Forum, University of Ottawa

The government has placed a new bill, Bill C-31, before parliament that will fundamentally change Canada’s refugee system.  One of the most important changes is to the refugee claim process itself.  Refugee claims will be decided much more quickly.  In the opinion of most refugee experts, the process will be too fast; it will not give refugee claimants a fair chance to tell their story....

“Ontario is still the number one destination for immigrants”

Dalton McGuinty.

An exclusive conversation with the Premier of Ontario.

  By Thomas S. Saras

Dalton McGuinty, is not an ordinary politician. This is something the reader realizes when he thinks that this is the third straight mandate he recently received from the Ontario voters. For a politician of our thought times this is more than on ordinary mandate, it shows the trust of voters to his political skills and his ability to lead. I am quite sure that Dalton McGuinty, with this present mandate he is writing history.

This interview contacted in his office and always the Premier welcomed me with his well-known smile. Taking this opportunity I want to thank him for this honour.   ...

     “Canada’s Other Voices”

2012   A Message From The President

January 01, 2012

Dear Friends and Colleagues, Sisters and Brothers in the Ethnic Press and Media: As the New Year 2012 is already a reality, please allow me on behalf of myself and the members of the board to extend our best wishes to all of you.

May this year realize your dreams, goals and wishes of yours and your loved ones’. The warmth of love. The comfort of home. Health and joy, throughout the year.  Please keep always in mind that all the members of the human family are equal, they deserve respect and dignity, please lets threat them as such. Enrich your knowledge of the members of your family, friends and community about this fact. Make sure you teach your readership of the importance of diversity, respect of dignity and the need for universal social inclusion. Have the courage to seek and speak the truth if this needed for the protection of an innocent person, even if this means that you have to stand alone against the establishment. In democracies the will of people is governing. Please make sure that you are standing for the hopes and dreams of the voiceless and kept out forgotten fellow citizens of your community. Stand up against any form of oppression, social or political. Do not encourage religious fanaticism to grow up in your community, this is a guide for the creation of a just world and the desire to make it happen is up to you, as yours is the helping hand to strengthen our unity, serenity and peace in this wonderful country of ours, Canada.

Please remember that all of us are members of the same human family as we celebrate today our humanity. Only then the New Year would be a year of Hopes and a Year of successes.

From All of us, to all of You, Happy and Prosperous New Year,

Thomas S. Saras                                                                         Neel Nanda
