The ceremony took place at Queen’s Park, Lieutenant Governor’s suite and hosted by His Honour James K. Bertleman, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, September 15th, at 6:00 pm. The Hon. Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario, the Hon. Michael Colle, Ontario’s Minister of Culture and Immigration, the Hon. Howard Hampton, MPP, Leader of the Ontario NDP, the Hon. Jim Karygiannis, M.P., Parliamentary Ass. To Minister of Transportation Canada, His Worship David Miller, Mayor of Toronto, the Hon. Tony Ruprecht, M.P.P, the Hon. Marily Churley, M.P.P. NDP, along with the Hon. Efthimios Efthimiades, the Counsul General of Greece to Toronto.  

Four hundred guests witnessed the ceremony and participated in the reception His Honour organized in honour of the recipients.

  Thirty individuals from the various cultural communities of Canada, are honoured this year by the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada, for their work and services rendered to their community during the previous years. Also fifteen ethnic publications are recognized on the occasion of ETHNOMEDIA WEEK 2005 celebrations, for their editorial concept or visual presentation (art work).

The presentation of the Awards is planned for the 15th of September 2005, at 6:00 PM, at the Main Legislative Building of Ontario and is hosted by the Honourable James K. Bartleman, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, at the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite...

Like Mike Harris who pandered to that part of the society who reacted when he pushed certain hot buttons, City Councilor Michael Thompson wants to make a name for himself, by pushing the hot button of murders in the black community.

 Racial profiling as suggested by Michael Thompson is illegal.  He is advocating that the police break the law and for this he should not be in office, Municipally, Provincially or Federally. Come election time I hope electors remember this...

They escaped the quake but death in the shape of extremely harsh winter, injuries and diseases is approaching and surrounding them fast. Most of them are very poor and helpless.        TORONTO:  After the devastating earthquake in Pakistan, the struggle to save the survivors is becoming a real tough challenge.  Time is fast running out and the aid agencies are doing their best to reach maximum areas to rescue and protect the people. They are aware of the fact that they are losing the race but are still undeterred and fully determined to face the challenge bravely.  The whole world has joined now to help the people and Pakistan in this very difficult and testing time. May The Almighty give them success in their struggle. It is the time for true prayers and to seek forgiveness as well...

  In the last few days the impending prosecution of Orhan Pamuk’s— Turkey's most famous writer—has been the focus of the U.S. and international media.   

 

The indictment, by a Turkish court, of Pamuk for telling Tagesanzeiger Swiss newspaper that "30,000 Kurds and one million Armenians were killed in these lands and nobody but me dares to talk about it," threatens Turkey’s chances of joining the European Union. May be I was one of the very fortunate ones but this is what I experienced. This does not mean that people dont face tough times at the border. Yes, they do but it is all mostly due to security checks and not discrimination or racism. The Americans are wonderful and one of the best people in the world...
