Minutes of the previous meeting:

Suleiman Guven moved a motion to approve the minutes of the previous monthly meeting Dr. Tajdolati seconded it.  The motion was carried.

Matters arising out of the minutes:
A member indicated that the motion brought in the previous meeting by Sandeep Prabhakar suggesting to form a committee lobbying for advertising for members of NEPMCC was still in the floor. The matter may be discussed in a later meeting. An amendment is therefore applied to the previous minutes.

President’s Report/Discussions:

  • Thomas Saras suggested that general elections of the board of NEPMCC be held along with a weekend seminar for all members on March 7 and March 8 2015. Members interested in running for any office of NEPMCC should have the time and passion to carry this organization forward. He hoped unlike last time as some board members could not dedicate the required time, the next election will have only persons who are committed and dedicated for the cause of NEPMCC.
  • The Annual Award Ceremony will take place on November 14, 2104 in LT. Governor’s suite at Queens Park. He informed the members about the logistics of the event. He expressed disappointment as very few members receiving awards confirmed their attendance. The event is a highly prestigious one and attendance is only by invitation.
  • President Thomas Saras suggested of forming a committee to revamp the constitution of NEPMCC in tune with the changes in organization. He recommended Dr. Tajdolati to chair the committee for revamping the constitution.
  • President Thomas Saras suggested that William Doyle Marshall write an article on the treatment meted out by the organizers of PanAm games regarding advertising for members.  He suggested that members publish this article in the front page or editorials to show a unified voice of NEPMCC.
  • The administration of NEPMCC is authorized to cover the expenses of the award ceremony and the annual get-together as necessary. All members unanimously agreed on this.
  • President Thomas Saras informed the members of applying for Innovation Fund under Heritage Canada.
  • The Annual Get-Together will be held on December 12 at the Cypriot Community Centre. Tickets for the Annual Get-Together were available in the meeting of November for a nominal amount of $30. Thomas Saras encouraged all members to participate with their families in this annual event. The annual get-together is going to be a fun filled event with participation of all levels of government. There are limited tickets and President encouraged all members to buy tickets before they are sold out, he further added that this event is exclusively for members and brings families closer.

  • President Thomas Saras suggested of bringing out a booklet reflecting on the history of NEPMCC

.

  • President Thomas Saras also said that some members are calling the office only when they need a help or support for their projects and after receiving help they never participate in the affairs of the organization. Effective immediately, said the speaker, his office will not prepared to engage in any special services for such members who do not participate in the affairs of the organization. This is your organization and therefore all of us have to support and work together for the success of all of us, concluded the speaker.
  • President Thomas Saras like in the previous monthly meetings urged those members to pay their annual membership who have not yet paid their annual membership fee to renew their membership with the organization. NEPMCC has a lot of projects waiting in 2014 and in 2015 for the benefit of ethnic media industry and all projects have cost associated with them. Many members have benefited being a part of NEPMCC and paying membership fees in a timely manner is a duty of all members. President Thomas Saras informed that many members are still to renew their membership with NEPMCC. He also reminded that only members in good standing are eligible to vote during the general elections of NEPMCC in March 2015.
