Another act of barbarism the killing of Hrant Dink in Turkey.

The murder of the journalist underscores that the country has  no common values with the European societies.

Toronto, Jan. 19. The National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada expresses its horror and sense of indignation on the occasion of barbaric assassination, amounting to virtual murder of the Turkish journalist Hrant Dink, belonging to Armenian cultural heritage, and editor-In-Chief of the weekly Agos.  This act of wanton barbarism is an outstanding example of the criminal mentality and culture of this country that weighs against the principles of free expression and the rights of the minorities living under the Turkish administration.

The National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada, takes this opportunity to unequivocally condemn in the strongest terms this assassination of one of Turkey’s   free voices and calls upon the United Nations to investigate the circumstances of this murder and the European Union and all the nations of the free world to disassociate themselves from the fascist establishment of Ankara and terminate immediately every negotiation with Turkey regarding admission of Turkey to European Family, until there is clear assurance and evidence that the rights of all of its people and the free voices of political dissidents are respected and the administration abjures the practice of political vendetta.
