Korean Canadian Cultural Association Hosts
Toronto Peace Marathon 2005 To be run on October 2nd, 2005, 7 AM. At the
Korean Centre at 1133 Leslie St. North York. Friday
9, 2005 10 AM ET Toronto-(Community
News) - The Korean Canadian Cultural Association (KCCA) announces today
its first Toronto Peace Marathon 2005 (a 10 kilo run) on Sunday, October 2nd,
2005 7 am, on behalf of the Korean Community in Metro Toronto in
celebration of Korean Day in Ontario. Steve
Yu, the Association’s president stated that Koreans wish to promote peace
and freedom in the Korean Peninsula and the World. We just celebrated
the 60th anniversary of the World War II victory as well as the
liberation of the Korean Peninsula. Nevertheless, there is yet to be true
peace and freedom in the Korean Peninsula. Six countries are still engaged
in negotiation to make nuclear weapon free Korean Peninsula. Sam
Hahn, Chair of the TPM Organizing Committee added that we also remembered
the sacrifice made by peace and freedom loving people from 16 countries
including Canadians during Korean War started in June 25, 1950. We would
not be able to live now in Canada without their sacrifice during the war
to defend the South Korea. Koreans
are the survivors of these wars and long for peace and freedom more than
any people. Steve
Yu declares “This is the reason that we Koreans in Toronto decided to
host the peace race in the memory of the sacrifice made in both wars.
Toronto has every culture and people on earth. We are the citizens of the
world. We ask you to join us in this short distance run to promote
together peace and freedom fro the world.” It
is required to send us the application form to the Centre before September
26, 2005. For
